Fashion Design

This inspirational and practical fashion design programme will immerse you in the world of the fashion designer and will help you understand how they undertake the fashion design process. The programme is specifically designed to equip students with the comprehensive skills, theories and application into both the front and behind the scenes of the Fashion Design world.

Who is this For?

One with a keen interest in the subject area and a desire to learn will prevail here as it’s best suited for the one who will eat, breath, live and dream fashion and aspires to work within the fashion industry in any capacity. It will introduce you to the principles of fashion design and fashion drawing and show you how to develop your ideas from extensive research.

Programme Description

The Diploma in Fashion Design offers a professional pathway into the world of glamorous fashion industry. The structure provides a comprehensive programme that enables a student to develop an individual approach to commercial viability. Students are also encouraged to participate in major shows and exhibitions, such as Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (MIFA), Malaysian Official Designer Association (MODA) and the Batik Guild, all aimed at providing valuable practical experience in confronting with challenges in the real fashion arena.

Programme Aims

The programme aims to equip students with both technical knowledge and practical ability to be applied in the real world. Through the extensive subjects being offered, students will be able to develop high level critical thinking, presentation skills, conceptualise a specific design and implement creative ideas into a finished product.

Career Prospects

Upon completion of this programme, a graduate can work as a designer, fashion buyer, merchandiser, illustrator, fashion journalist, fabric or colour researcher and stylists.

Entry Requirements

  • SPM with 3 credits in any subjects including Pendidikan Seni
  • Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in 3 subjects including at least a Pass in Pendidikan Seni
  • Other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution of Government of Malaysia
  • Other equivalent certificate by a Polytechnic
  • Students who did not take Pendidikan Seni as a subject in SPM shall attend AND pass the interview session/ drawing test/ portfolio evaluation conducted by KLMUC
