Graphic Design

Graphic design provides a challenging working environment, a wide variety of clientele and an ever changing portfolio of briefs and projects. Comprehensive programme that combines both theory and practical skills into one with special emphasis on innovation, creativity and strategic thinking.  Students will be exposed to design methods, design theory, creative problem solving and visual & verbal literacy.

Projects range anywhere from oil painting, sculpture to graphic installation.

Programme Description

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Graphic Design is a 3-year programme. Graduates with Diploma in Graphic Design will get credit transfer for the first year. The subject covers the fundamental of design such as typography, drawing, electronic publishing, basic graphic knowledge and software applications. Part of the curriculum include exposure in advertising concepts, creative visual thinking, animation, advanced photography, branding, web and creative problem solving. In the final year, students need to do portfolio development, design management & professional practice and digital effect. At the end of the semester, students are required to attend a 3-month practical training.

Programme Aims

It aims to equip students with the detailed elements of graphic design covering techniques, process and technology across different types of media, teach students to apply creativity, intellectual thinking, innovation and strategic thinking in graphic design tools and techniques.

It is also aimed to provide opportunity for students to establish contact through practical experience and professional exposure in the design industry.

Career Prospects

Graduates can aim to work as Graphic designer, advertising designer, web designer, interactive designer, packaging designer, digital publishing, publication designer, design studios and freelance work.

  • MUET (Band 1) with PNGK 2.0
  • Other equivalent qualifications recognized by Government of Malaysia
