SUNDAY, 01 Sep 2019 - COSMOPOINT has introduced a Job Guarantee Programme that was officially launched during Yayasan MyPerintis fund-raising dinner last Friday.

The event was graced by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik.

The G.E.R.A.K Programme is an initiative to improve the employability of graduates under Cosmopoint’s institutions of higher learning – namely Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) and the Cosmopoint Group of Colleges. Maszlee also witnessed the handing over of scholarship offers worth

RM500,000 by Cosmopoint Sdn Bhd chairman Idham Ismail to Yayasan MyPerintis.

Cosmopoint Sdn Bhd Group Chief Operating Officer Najmie Noordin said the idea for G.E.R.A.K – which stands for “Gerenti Kerja” or job-guarantee in Malay – came as the calls for a solution for youth and graduate unemployment grew louder from the public.

“We believe that the solution for graduate unemployment should start as soon as they enrol as a student, not after they complete their studies, ” said Najmie.

The G.E.R.A.K Programme – the first of its kind from a higher education institution in Malaysia has three core thrusts. There are offering programmes and syllabus that meet industry needs; mandating additional training and modules to improve employability and collaborating with industry partners for job placement opportunities and programme input.

The unique element to the programme is its offer to return up to 50% of tuition fees for those who fail to obtain employment within six months of graduation.

“This programme is in line with our mission to help change the lives of those in the B40 (low income).

“With 12 locations spread across 12 states in Malaysia, we believe G.E.R.A.K can be the catalyst for youth employment and help generate economic returns for the country, ” said Najmie.
